ChoreHero Terms and Conditions

Please read these terms and conditions carefully before using the app.

Welcome to ChoreHero (“we”, “us”, “our”). These Terms govern your access to and use of our app and related services (the “Service”). By downloading or using ChoreHero, you agree to these Terms. If you disagree, please do not use the Service.

1. Definitions

  • “Service” – The ChoreHero mobile app, website, and associated services.
  • “You” – Any user accessing or using the Service.
  • “Content” – Text, images, tasks, profiles, and any other data you create, upload, or store via the Service.
  • “User Content” – Content that you provide.

2. Account & Eligibility

  • You need an account to use core features. You are responsible for keeping your password secure.
  • Users must be at least 13 years old (or meet local age requirements).
  • Accounts created for entities (like families) are managed by an authorized user; you’re responsible for access and actions by all members.

3. License & Use

  • We grant you a limited, non‑exclusive, non‑transferable license to use the Service for your personal or household purposes.
  • You must comply with all terms—don’t misuse the Service or interfere with it.

4. User Content & IP Rights

  • Your Content: You retain ownership of your Content.
  • By uploading or submitting Content, you grant ChoreHero a worldwide, non‑exclusive, royalty‑free license to use, host, store, reproduce, and display your Content solely to operate and provide the Service, including sharing within your household.
  • Don’t upload Content that’s illegal, offensive, infringing, or violates others’ rights.

5. Subscriptions & Payments (if applicable)

  • If you sign up for paid features, you agree to our fees and payment terms. We may update pricing, but relevant terms apply only to future billing.
  • No refunds except as required by law or at our discretion.

6. Acceptable Use

  • Don’t misuse the Service for illegal activity or harm.
  • No interference, reverse engineering, or unauthorized access.

7. Termination & Suspension

  • You can stop using the Service anytime.
  • We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts for rule violations or misuse.
  • Upon termination, we may delete your Content per our Data Retention Policy.

8. Changes to Service or Terms

  • We may update the Service or these Terms at any time. We’ll notify you of major changes (e.g. via email or in-app), and continued use implies acceptance.

9. Warranties & Disclaimers

  • The Service is provided “as is” without warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement :contentReference.
  • We do not guarantee uninterrupted access, error-free performance, or specific results.

10. Limitation of Liability

  • We’re not liable for indirect, special, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages.
  • Our total liability is capped at the amount you’ve paid in the last 12 months (or $50 if none).

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold ChoreHero and its affiliates harmless from any claims arising from your use of the Service, violation of these Terms, or infringement of rights.

12. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution

  • These Terms are governed by California law.
  • For disputes, we prefer informal negotiation. Otherwise, you agree to binding arbitration in California, except where local laws require otherwise.

  • No waiver by us is effective unless in writing.

15. Entire Agreement

These Terms (and any referenced policies) are the complete agreement. They supersede all prior agreements.
